Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Editorial Policy and Ethics

Mentor Journal is committed to applying the highest standards of publication ethics and to adhering to the following principles of the Statement on Publication Ethics and Misconduct. Mentor Journal started its publication life in March 2025. It publishes theoretical and practical articles that provide original contributions to the field of Fine Arts and Design, and no fee is charged during the submission and publication process of the articles. The content of the "open access" journal is offered to all users free of charge. Users can read, download, distribute, print and link to articles in the journal in full text without obtaining permission from the publisher and author(s).

No guarantee of number, referee or time can be given for articles sent to our journal for evaluation, and publication conditions are completely dependent on the completion of the referee process and the permission of the authorized boards/commissions.

Evaluation and Publication

All articles sent to our journal are subject to preliminary evaluation in terms of compliance with the guidelines for authors, language, contribution to science and originality. Articles that are insufficient or do not comply with the spelling rules may be rejected without peer review.

The submitted studies are examined for plagiarism at the first stage and, if deemed necessary, at later stages using the "iThenticate" software. For this purpose, articles that involve plagiarism, unauthorized citations or fabricated data, forgery (fabrication or manipulation of tables, figures or research data), and inappropriate use of human or animal material in the research and that do not comply with the standards will not be published in the journal. This rule also applies in cases where the non-compliance with the standards is detected at the post-publication stage and requires the withdrawal of the article from publication. Our journal reminds us of its responsibility to report cases of suspected plagiarism or double publication, as required by publication ethics.

Field Editors evaluate scientific articles sent to our journals. A blind peer review policy is applied to the evaluation process. The Editor-in-Chief may assign an Editor for the article or conduct the scientific evaluation of the article himself if he deems necessary. Editors may also assign referees for the scientific evaluation of the article and make decisions based on the referees' reports. The Editorial Board makes the final decision regarding the publication of the article.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to a double-blind peer review process, where they are reviewed by an Editor and at least two referees. Authors can access this information online through the journal's websites. Manuscripts are accepted for publication with the understanding that they will not be considered for publication elsewhere. Authors must confirm that neither the manuscript nor its main content has been previously published or submitted for publication in another journal.

Ethical Principles

The publication processes implemented in Mentor – Academic Art and Design Journal are fundamental to the development and distribution of knowledge in an impartial and respectful manner. The processes implemented in this direction directly reflect on the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors. Peer-reviewed studies are studies that embody and support the scientific method. At this point, it is important for all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, referees and editors) to comply with the standards regarding ethical principles. Within the scope of the publication ethics of Mentor Art and Design Journal, all stakeholders are expected to carry the following ethical responsibilities.

The ethical duties and responsibilities below have been prepared by taking into account the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access. It is based on Publication Ethics Flowcharts. For detailed information on this subject, please click.

Author's Ethical Responsibilities

Authors must ensure the originality of the articles they submit. Articles submitted to the journal for publication must not have been previously published in another journal (including abstracts presented at scientific meetings and published in full text) or must not have been simultaneously submitted to any journal for publication. Authors must appropriately cite other authors, contributors or sources and indicate relevant sources.

Authors are responsible for disclosing any financial relationships or conflicts of interest or competing interests that need to be known about the study and that could potentially affect the findings or scientific results of the study. They must clearly declare all financial contributions, sponsorships or project support made to the study.

A change in author responsibilities (such as adding an author, changing the order of authors, removing an author) cannot be proposed for a study whose evaluation process has started.

When an author identifies a significant scientific error or inappropriateness in their published article, they are obliged to contact the Editor as quickly as possible to withdraw the article or correct the error.

Ethical Responsibilities of Referees

Referees evaluate the submitted articles in terms of scientific content, regardless of the ethnicity, gender, nationality, religious belief or political philosophy of the authors. There should be no conflict of interest or competition regarding the research, authors or sponsors for the referees. Referee decisions should be objective.

Referees should indicate relevant published publications that have not been cited by the author. They are obliged to keep all information regarding the submitted article confidential and to notify the Editor of any copyright infringement or plagiarism that the author becomes aware of.
