Writing has diversified and taken shape within the intercultural temporality. Typography, one of the elements of visual communication, has continued to evolve since its inception in line with different needs. Especially today, cross-cultural communication requirements in communication, multiculturalism, and globalization have necessitated the creation of more practical solutions. In the context of the concept known as the Global Village, it is important to consider different writing systems and alphabets when creating designs. The digitization of typography, the OpenType (OTF) font format, the creation of the Unicode (Universal Code) standard, and the languages supported by desktop publishing tools have preserved the structural attributes of diverse alphabets and streamlined systematic workflows. This study addresses what multilingual typography is and how it is created without losing its fundamental formal characteristics during the use of concepts and texts across alphabets. General information about writing systems is provided, leading to inferences on how formal compatibility is established between them. The fundamental formal characteristics in question are supported by visuals, and comparisons are made between writing systems. When creating typographic designs across different writing systems and alphabets, answers have been sought regarding how visual and structural harmony is achieved while preserving the fundamental formal characteristics of the characters. The results of comparing the visuals presented in the examples and the data comprising the research were collected, and the research was conducted using a descriptive analysis method.
