Abstract

The way to convince the masses of an emotion, a type of thought or an idea is through propaganda. It has been observed that throughout human history, state administrators who have managed to convince large masses of themselves have achieved this success by effectively using communication tools and propaganda. As an art and design form, posters are one of the methods used to create awareness among the target audience about a product, idea or social problem. Posters are also used as a means of communication. Purpose of this study is analyzing the process of German WWII posters by aiming on the graphic arts. Behind the scenes of Adolf Hitler’s convincing the huge population are individual talents and skills of him. From the otherhand something shouldn’t be forgotten, while there weren’t so many kinds of public communication options, the person who was behind Hitler’s extraordinary success is Joseph Goebbels. Goebbels, whose books and applications on mass manipulation strategies are still used as an academic resource in communication science faculties today, can undoubtedly be described as one of the greatest propaganda experts in history. Article is about the role of the propaganda in history, the power of being able to change the history, the ways and details of influencing and impressing the public. This study exemplify by the leading master propagandist Joseph Goebbels.  While the selection of the poster examples, unacceptable antidemocratic and racists orations considered. Democratic and aimed to impressing the public concepts had been selected. As a result of the research, something had appeared that subconscious of the people had effected through the posters in the process of WWII. Nazi Germany did pay attention about the poster on the top level and produced/created unique posters.
