This study examines the historical interaction between painting and architecture and how these two disciplines complement each other. Painting and architecture are not only parts of cultural heritage but also disciplines that play an active role in its preservation, documentation, and transmission. Painting has visually recorded the architectural texture, social life, and aesthetic understanding of historical periods, thereby carrying the cultural traces of the past into the future. Architecture, on the other hand, has ensured the sustainability of cultural heritage through the preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historical structures. In this respect, both art forms have contributed to the strengthening of aesthetic values and the preservation of cultural continuity. The study comparatively analyzes the relationship between painting and architecture from the Renaissance to the Baroque, Art Nouveau, Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art, and Postmodernism movements. During the Renaissance, painting and architecture were integrated within church structures; in the Baroque period, the use of light, shadow, and dramatic expression became prominent in both arts. The Art Nouveau movement influenced both painting and architecture through its organic motifs, while Cubism transformed architecture with its geometric forms. Surrealism reflected elements of the subconscious into spatial design, developing a new understanding of space, and Pop Art introduced a new expressive language in both art and architecture through the use of color and popular culture elements. In the Postmodern period, this relationship became freer, more experimental, and multilayered. The research was conducted using a descriptive method based on literature review. The findings indicate that throughout history, art and architecture have profoundly influenced each other aesthetically, functionally, and culturally.
